A 22-year-old from Pembroke was jailed for one and a half years for attacking and seriously injuring another youth in 2000.
Magistrate Miriam Hayman said the behaviour of the accused who, according to the opinion of a medical expert, is likely to have attacked the victim and his girlfriend with a weapon known as a knuckle duster, was unacceptable in a society that calls itself civilised. The incident had taken place in St Julians in the afternoon of December 3, 2000.
The magistrate noted that the accused had already had a brush with the law, from which he had learnt nothing. The name of the accused is not being published as he was a minor at the time of the incident.
