A lecture accompanied by a powerpoint presentation featuring works by artist Lazzaro Pisani will be held at the 12th May Band Club, Zebbug tomorrow at 7.30 p.m.
The talk will be delivered by Lino Borg, an art teacher at a secondary school and at the University of Malta. It will be followed by soprano Joan Mangion's interpretation of two of Mr Pisani's favourite arias from Giachomo Puccini's Opera, La Boheme.
Mr Pisani, was born in Zebbug in 1854, where he was educated at the local primary school. He then proceeded to the Valletta Lyceum where he attended art lessons under the tutorship of Michele Bellanti.
Having been encouraged to continue his studies in Rome by his tutors, he was admitted to the Accademia di San Luca. Malaria finally brought to an end Mr Pisani's studies in Rome. After a long recovery from the illness, he was encouraged to resume his artistic activities by getting involved in teaching.
