Lectures On Love, Family
A public lecture on Loving Human Love will be given at the Ballroom Suite, Le Meridien Phoenicia Hotel, Floriana on November 17 at 7.30 p.m. A second lecture on The Christian Family: Love, Fecundity And Charity will be delivered at the auditorium of the Convent of the Sacred Heart, St Julians on November 18 at 7 p.m.
The lectures will be delivered by Gilfredo Marengo who is the resident professor of theological anthropology at the Pontificio Istituto Giovanni Paolo II Per Studi Su Matrimonio e Famiglia in Rome and a visiting professor at the institute's foreign academies in Spain, Brazil and Mexico.
Power Cuts
The electricity supply will be suspended today in San Gwann between 8 a.m. and noon in Carmen Mallia Street and parts of In-Naxxar and San Gwann Ta' L-Gharghar streets and in Mgarr, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. in L-Imqades, Ghajn Tuffieha, Is-Saqwi and Il-Bidnija streets.
MyPotential Scheme
Over 200 students have enrolled at St Martin's Institute of Information Technology as part of the MyPotential Scheme launched by the government, the institute said.
Students who will successfully complete their diploma or degree programme in the stipulated time will benefit from tax rebates equal to 100 per cent of their costs of study.
Banks are also offering the opportunity to students to borrow money at preferential rates to attend one of the MyPotential ICT courses.
St Martin's Institute of Information Technology provides tuition based on the University of London set degree and diploma syllabi. Students have the opportunity of studying in Malta and doing the same examination papers as students attending the Lead College of the University of London.
Students, graduates and other individuals are eligible to apply to obtain unsecured financing at preferential rates, with students also having the option of a two-year capital repayment moratorium at the start of the loan, thus extending its term to seven years from the normal five-year term.

Leisure Centre For The Lonely
Persons who would like to make new friends, combat loneliness or take part in leisure activities can attend the NeverMind Centre in Gzira, every Monday from 5.30 to 8 p.m. Anyone over the age of 16 can attend.
The leisure centre is an initiative of the Richmond Foundation in collaboration with the EU's Youth, Education and Culture Programmes.
Geared towards socialisation, creativity and informal education, the centre is largely managed by foundation volunteers.
It caters for persons who are experiencing loneliness or who lack any type of social network due to personal difficulties they might be going through. It is aimed at those most at risk of social exclusion.

Charity Aerobics
The Livingwell Health Club recently hosted the first day of the Charity Aerobics Marathon at the Hilton.
Over 80 people took part in spinning, step and Hi Lo Aerobics among others.
All proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the organisation that is working to understand, treat and cure this hereditary disease.
Donations for these charities may be sent to either Livingwell Health Club at the Hilton Malta, St Julians or to Cynergi, St George's Bay, St Julians.

Diabetes Federation
Chris Delicata was re-elected board member of the International Diabetes Federation European Region (IDF - Europe) for 2006-2009 during the annual general assembly held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Warsaw, Poland.
Mr Delicata was nominated by the Maltese Diabetes Association. The board consists of health professionals, persons with diabetes and parents of children with diabetes hailing from Lithuania, United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, Russia, Cyprus, Ireland, Finland and Malta.
Mr Delicata has been actively involved in the Maltese Diabetes Association since 2001. He is editor of the association's journal Id-Dijabete u Sahhtek.
Residence Permits
The renewal of residence permits for third country nationals, that is, nationals of countries other than member states of the European Union, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, will as from December 1, be carried out by the Department for Citizenship and Expatriate Affairs (CEA), 3, Castille Place, Valletta, CMR 02.
The Department of Information said yesterday that as from that date, applications for the issue/renewal of residence permits should be made on application forms available from the CEA Department and deposited at that department or submitted by post, as long as they are accompanied by the appropriate documents and fees.
Applications (for the issue or renewal of a residence permit) which were previously submitted to the police have been referred to the CEA Department for the necessary processing.
As these applications need to be reviewed and updated, the persons concerned will be notified accordingly in due course.
Arrangements concerning EU nationals residing here will be announced at a later date. For the time being EU nationals should continue to apply at the Office of the Principal Immigration Officer, Police General Headquarters, Floriana.

Domestic Violence Seminar
The Maltese Psychological Association will be holding a seminar for psychologists and other professionals working in the mental health field on the Domestic Violence Act.
The meeting will be held at the Federation of Professional Bodies, Gzira Road, Gzira, next Wednesday at 6.30 p.m. Elaine Ellul, a lawyer specialising in family law, will address the seminar.

Interiors Fair Prizes
Maria Fenech and her fiancé have received a three-piece sofa set as a prize from Francesca Cassar of Domestica, the prize offered to all visitors at the Modern Interiors Fair held at the Eden Arena in early October.
Other prizes won with the Modern Interiors Fair and the Sunday Times competition were received by the Buttigieg family who won an African vase presented by Home Space, Simon Tabone who has won several litres of paints presented by Crown Creative Pains, Janice Zahra who is the recepient of a bamboo vase offered by Bo Concept, Rita Anne Grech who won a glass sink available at Vella Falzon Group and Joseph Vella who has won a chandelier from Rose Enterprises.
Games Of Pool For Charity
The Kilimanjaro Challenge 3 team will hold a day knock-out Pool Tournament at Dimples Bar, Mosta on Sunday from 9 a.m.
The winner will get a pool table and trophies will be given to those placing first, second and third.
There is a participation fee of Lm5 with all proceeds going to the Kilimangaro Challenge, which is collecting funds for the embellishment of a school and convent in Bulbula, in the province of Meki in Ethiopia.

Mega Concert
The president of the National Musicians Union, Val Valente, has been invited to represent Malta in the Mega Concert 2006, due to be held in Dinant, Belgium on Saturday.
The concert, which is being held every four years in honour of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the instrument, will take place at the Place Reine Astrid in front of the Collegiate Church near the inventor's native house.
About 1,400 saxophonists will this year play simultaneously under the musical director of Mro Alain Crepin, founder member of the Association of Saxophonists.
