I live in Canada and have a lot of experience flying North American airlines during my frequent flights to the US. Air Canada, Canada's biggest airline, does not offer its passengers any food for flights lasting less than four hours. On what Air Canada classifies as short flights passengers get a small bag of peanuts or pretzels and pop soda, water, tea or coffee. Passengers who want to eat either bring their food with them or buy a meal on board at a premium price. Compare that to the excellent service you receive on an Air Malta flight from Heathrow to Malta (even though it's not four hours long) and you will soon realise that Air Malta provides excellent service to its passengers.
