The next Heritage Trail by Heritage Malta on November 11 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. will explore the works by Giuseppe Calì by taking participants to various places where his works are exhibited.
Attention will be drawn to the St Jerome and the St Peter and St Paul paintings at the Sacro Cuor parish church, in Sliema.
Another work during the trail is the Death of Dragut, housed at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Valletta, which was one of Calì's earliest successes after his return from Naples.
Calì was born in Valletta on August 14, 1846 and studied at the Accademia di Bella Arti in Italy. After completing his studies, his parents persuaded him to return to Malta where he married Perrinia née Pace and fathered 11 children.
