Boy, 12, in danger of dying

A boy, 12, is fighting for his life after he was run over by a van while crossing the bypass at Ghaxaq known as Dawret Hal Ghaxaq.

The boy who was run over by an Isuzu Van being driven by a 41-year-old man from Tarxien was rushed to hospital in an ambulance. The man was driving from Gudja towards Zejtun.

Duty magistrate Miriam Hayman has appointed various experts to assist in an inquiry. These past two days have been a bad omen for children with Alured Bouslama, 13, dying of burns in Qawra on Sunday and Nickovic Chircop sustaining grievous injuries also on Sunday when he fell off a tractor his father was steering.

The boy's condition was yesterday described by the police as "stable but still critical". The boy was injured when he got caught under the wheel of his father's tractor in the limits of Rabat on Sunday.

Nickovic was a passenger on the tractor when he fell off as the machine was in motion.
