A 13-year-old boy was killed last night following an explosion in an abondoned room, in Qawra, the Police said.

The boy, who was badly burnt, was discovered by members of the Civil Protection Department when they were controlling the fire that ensued following the explosion, in Annetto Caruana Street. Sources said that other children who were probably playing with the victim inside the room escaped unhurt. The civil protection team was led by Peter Cordina. Duty Magistrate Dr Denis Montebello set up an onsite inquiry.

The Police are investigating.
