The Malta Basketball Association has just reached an agreement with Italian club Ragusa to send Maltese players to train professionally in Sicily.
Instrumental in reaching this agreement was Malta national team coach Bruno Di Pietrantonio. The first two players to benefit from the agreement were Anton Axiaq and Luke Camilleri. Both are also included in the provisional squad called by Di Pietrantonio for next year's European U-18 Championship Division C in Wales.
Apart from Axiaq and Camilleri, Lee Ross is in his third year playing in Rome and the latest addition is Michael Arena. His mother is Maltese but he was born in Italy. Recently, Arena was here to acquire his Maltese passport.
Arena will also be in the squad for next year's European Championship.
