Further to Anthony Fabri's letter On Merit (October 26), considering that members on boards of government entities are paid and considering also that they are paid from taxpayers' money, I think that in all fairness these positions should be open to everybody by calling for applications from anybody interested and should not be filled through political connections.

And may the best person for the job be appointed.
