Maltapost worker 'assaulted'

A Maltapost employee was assaulted by a customer, the public entities section of Union Haddiema Maghqudin said yesterday, condemning the incident.

The incident allegedly took place at Maltapost's south hub on Tuesday after a client demanded his social benefit cheque, which was still in the process of being delivered.

The union said it would be taking steps to ensure the safety of Maltapost employees. It did not exclude industrial action if the situation was not remedied.

It also called on the entities responsible for looking into abuse of social benefits to investigate the case.
