Herbert Skok, managing director of Volksbank Malta Ltd, has donated his 27-year-old Trabant to the Malta Classic Car Museum.

Mr Skok and his partner Netty Farrugia spent 10 days on the road in the car, driving down from the Czech Republic to Malta.

The pair drove 2,615 kilometers at a maximum speed of 80 kilometres per hour, until the car needed repairs after a petrol station attendant added the wrong kind of oil to the petrol. When they arrived at Grand Harbour, the car would not start and had to be towed home.

The Trabant was repaired and has been handed over to Carol Galea, director of the museum.

The Malta Classic Car Museum is located in Tourist Street, Qawra and is open from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week, and from 9.30 a.m. until 2.30 p.m. on weekends.
