Next in the autumn series of cultural lectures by Din l-Art Helwa is a presentation by historian John Saré on Heritage In Rabat.

The lecture will take place at 133, Melita Street, Valletta, on November 9 at 6 p.m.

This will be an opportunity to take a short walk through the historic legacy of the ancient village of Rabat.

It will focus on three underground burial sites that are not open to the public, churches and their crypts, the priories, the niche of Grand Master Emanuel de Rohan and the shrine of Grand Master Marc Antonio Zondadari. Mr Saré will also illustrate the architecture in Saqqajja, treating the buildings of the Order of St John and the Webster Paulson legacy.

A council member of Din l-Art Helwa, Mr Saré is a well-known historian, researcher and lover of Melitensia. He is a lecturer on prehistory and aspects of Maltese culture, a lecturer at AZAD and author of several works including Walks Into Malta's History and Aspects From Maltese Culture. He has produced two CDs on the history of 16 villages in Malta.

The talk is in English and admission is free of charge but donations to the restoration programmes of Din l-Art Helwa are most welcome.
