A series of programmes on Campus FM 103.7, Grajjiet Bahartna, will describe events leading to how the Mediterranean Sea, cradle of civilisation, was carved between two main religions, Christianity and a few centuries later Islam.
The series points out conflicts and advances or retreats which took place in Eastern countries, North Africa, Southern Europe (up to Poitiers) and, above all, Spain. Malta too was part of this chequered history at the birth of Islam and continued to change hands until the big Great Siege of 1565 when it became a no-go land for Islam.
Listeners would understand what led to today's conflicts and how each side could understand the other side through History. This series will be transmitted on Mondays at 10.06 a.m. and repeated on Saturdays at the same time.
