A magistrate ordered Enemalta Corporation to pay Lm500 to a man after he was cleared of tampering with the electricity meter.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna heard how in 2001 an Enemalta meter reader went to Richard Fenech's house and told him that his meter had been tampered with. As a result of this the company charged him Lm500 which he paid and the police took action against him for tampering with the meter.

However, Mr Fenech was cleared of the charges. He then filed a case, in the Magistrates' Court, requesting his money back.

Magistrate Apap Bologna upheld his request and ordered Enemalta to pay the amount back to him.
