Acting President George Hyzler was yesterday on an official visit with a difference - the 100-year-old woman he called on happened to be his mother-in-law, Mary Bonnici.

The Prime Minister's wife, Kate Gonzi, as well as Parliamentary Secretary Helen D'Amato attended Mass and a birthday party held at Mrs Bonnici's residence in Sliema. The mother of seven was born in Hamrun, where she lived until she got married at the age of 18. Mrs Bonnici lost her mother when she was just 12 years old and took care of her father, two brothers and a sister.
