The Times reported that the Leader of the Opposition stated in his reaction to the budget that it was weak and hollow (October 19). This is in sharp contrast to what the constituted bodies, union leaders, economists and others in the know have said. It is in contrast to the feeling of optimism that is starting to grow.

Alfred Sant said that hearing Lawrence Gonzi speak about how firm everything was made him think he was producing an advert for Viagra. Definitely not words one would expect from the Leader of the Opposition. But there again not even the thought of Viagra allowed Dr Sant to rise to the occasion!
