A Labour Party delegation led by MLP leader Alfred Sant yesterday met Police Commissioner John Rizzo for consultation over the party's plans for local councils.

Mr Rizzo said he was honoured to be consulted by the Labour Party adding that the police had very close relations with local councils.

Local councils and the police, he said, gave the community a service so it would be a mistake if the two sides did not work closely together.

Dr Sant said the party felt consultations with the police were useful because there was full cooperation at different levels between the local councils and the police.
