Labour MPs Charles Mangion, Leo Brincat and Charles Buhagiar have filed a libel suit against the Radio 101 editor and a journalist over claims made during a news bulletin broadcast on Tuesday.

The MPs filed the suit against station editor Louiselle Vassallo and journalist Nathaniel Attard over a news item in which it was claimed that, in June, the three formed part of a delegation that travelled to Dubai.

The allegations centred around the claim that the MPs travelled on party funds and, once in Dubai, attended meetings of a personal business interest.

This, they claimed, was libellous and defamatory and aimed at tainting their reputation.

Lawyer Pawlu Lia signed the suit.
