A total of 1,238 persons had an accident at work between July and last month, which is an 11.4 per cent increase over the same period last year, the National Statistics Office said yesterday.

These accidents occurred in manufacturing (35.4 per cent), construction (15.1 per cent), transport, storage, and communications (9.2 per cent) and the wholesale and retail trade (7.5 per cent).

During the period there were three fatalities at work, all involving men, the NSO said.

There were no fatalities during the same period last year.
