If Mark Vella Bardon (Man's Best Friend, October 19) is not aware of any shameful conflict between animal welfare NGOs, it is my advice to him not to start any himself. The tone of his letter, with "we at Noah's Ark...", does not really profess much cooperation especially in the way he attacked Terry Bliss and her voluntary work at the SPCA. Since when has Mr Vella Bardon become the spokesman for the local NGOs, excluding the SPCA, which he criticised so much in his letter?

I have come to know Ms Bliss and here I agree one hundred per cent with Mr Vella Bardon that she is always very busy fund raising for the SPCA.

She is certainly to be admired for the dedicated love, attention and work she gives to animal welfare. To know Terry is to admire her and her work and energy for the causes she sustains. She and volunteers like her work hard and do not seek the limelight. They just give love and care to abandoned strays wanting a loving home so they can in turn give love, affection and companionship to their owners.

Those who share Ms Bliss's concern about raising funds should use their letter writing skills to write to organisations, companies, even foreign embassies. A particular one is to be built in Ta' Qali next to where there was talk of a proposed animal hospital being built, hopefully not taking as long as Mater Dei to be finished.

Talk is cheap, as are promises, especially those made by politicians on the eve of elections.
