Robbers are believed to have made off with hundreds of liri after holding up an employee of a Paceville establishment yesterday morning.
The incident happened at around 7.30 a.m. in Elija Street, Paceville. The man was held up by two armed and hooded men who leapt out of a car as soon as he left his establishment, the police said.
They escaped with two bags which held cash, among other items. No one was injured.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera is heading court inquiries.
In another case, the police said yesterday they had arrested two men after items stolen from a van and a car in Gzira Road, Gzira, were found in a house in Birkirkara.
The police said they were alerted to the theft from the van soon after it happened yesterday night, when they were also informed about a car which the thieves were using.
The car was found in a lane in Birkirkara and the two suspects were arrested after a search in a nearby house. The items found to have been stolen included two car stereos and tools.
The arrested men are a 36-year-old from Birkirkara and a 38-year-old from Msida.
