A record 63 felines of different breeds will be vying for attention at today's cat show, organised by the Malta Feline Guardians Club.
This event, being held in preparation for December's second International Cat Show, is being held at the Coastline Hotel, Salina, and doors open at 10.30 a.m.
The club has been working hard for months to ensure the show is organised professionally. Apart from getting the chance to see so many preened and purring felines, those who attend are in with a chance to win Lm100 worth of gifts every hour.
The public will be voting for the best cat in all categories. Voting closes at 5 p.m. and television presenter Moira Delia will be announcing the results at around 5.30 p.m.
The cats will be judged in three categories: Category A: Pure Breed Kittens (three to 10 months), Category B: Pure Breed Adults (11 months and over), Category C: Domestic Cats.
Trophies will be awarded to the first five cats voted in each category. There will also be a trophy for Best Cat Overall and Best Decorated Cage.
The club, the biggest cat organisation on the island, has recently been recognised as a full member of the World Cat Federation, which has over 500 clubs worldwide, during August's general assembly held in Essen, Germany.
