Puppies abandoned near Gozo SPCA centre

Someone marked Animal Awareness Day earlier this month in a most inappropriate way, abandoning two sweet puppies near the entrance to the Gozo SPCA.

The SPCA volunteers on duty that evening had fed, cleaned and put all the animals in their kennels before closing up for the night at about 6 p.m. They then decided to have a coffee together in the nearby band club.

Some time later they returned to find the puppy, which they named Storm, tied to the door of the SPCA premises.

But it did not end there. Another volunteer later found another dog hitched to the premises - this time a young bitch, now called Smarty.

The dogs are both currently at the Gozo SPCA Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Anyone interested in giving them a home should contact Gozo SPCA - phone 2155 3769/ 9980 7067.
