'More tax reform needed'

The Association of Shops in Marsascala believes the revision of the tax bands announced in the budget may lead to higher consumption as it generates purchasing power.

However, further tax reforms were needed in order to stimulate business, it said.

The association expressed disappointment that the government had again totally ignored the issues affecting tourism in certain localities, such as the fish farms and the waste recycling plant in the Marsascala area.
