Employees of the Fairs & Exhibitions Ltd and Sign-It Ltd were informed that after long and hard negotiations, the two companies had agreed to merge their operations, with MFCC taking on all the employees of both companies.

Addressing the employees the CEO for the newly formed Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre Ltd. George F. Said said: "The prolonged period of uncertainty which had characterised the recent past, was not surpassed and they could look forward to the future with brighter prospects".

Mr Said reassured the employees that they should not be afraid of change, and they should take up the challenge wholeheartedly. Through this merger, the MFCC has widened its scope of operations and will now, more than ever, play a major role in the section of fairs, conventions, events, design and logistics, said Mr Said.

The company was experiencing very exciting times with works being in full swing for the site preparation of the area intended to serve as temporary grounds for the tension fabric structure which will start its voyage from Cambridge to Malta next week.

Mr Said said that the TFS would bring over with it a completely new concept in event organising and with its 130m x 50m area was bound to become the major venue for all major events in Malta.

The structure was set to be completely erected in place by November 15- in time for preparations to be completed for the 2000 delegates due to attend the Thomas Cook convention in the first week of December.

This will soon be followed by the concert by the world-renowned Andrea Bocelli who will be brought over by Renaissance Productions. The New Year's Eve major event has also been set with enquiries coming in for conventions for both 2007 and 2008.
