Economist Joseph F.X. Zahra has been reappointed president of the Higher Education Commission, which formulates recommendations on the vision and strategy of higher education.

Members already on the board have been reconfirmed by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi who had to appoint a new board since the Education Act was amended by Parliament last July.

The members are Alex Manché, vice-president, Alex Mifsud, Micheline Sciberras, Josef Bonnici and Jennifer Casingena Harper. Stephen Attard and John Portelli replace Jacques Sciberras and Juanito Camilleri. Prof. Camilleri has since become University of Malta rector.
