David Monsigneur, 35, of St Paul's Bay was yesterday re-arrested after the court decreed he had breached bail conditions.

Mr Monsigneur had been granted bail on May 5, 2004 on condition he signed daily at the police station and that he would be home by 8 p.m.

The court heard how Mr Monsigneur was injured in a fight close to the Luqa Bocci Club on July 16, 2004.

The Police Commissioner filed a court application asking the court to order Mr Monsigneur's re-arrest for violating court conditions by staying out late and failing to sign the bail book at the police station.

Mr Monsigneur exhibited a medical certificate to prove he was in hospital on the days he had failed to sign.

But the court, after hearing the doctor testify about when Mr Monsigneur was discharged from hospital, decreed he had breached bail conditions.

The court ordered his re-arrest and that the personal guarantee of Lm1,000 he had been bound with should be forfeited within a month, or be converted to 200 days in prison.
