Forty-one accountancy and law graduates have received a diploma in taxation after following the first structured, year-long course in taxation organised by the Malta Institute of Taxation.

The diplomas were distributed during a ceremony held at the International Maritime Law Institute, at the University of Malta. It was presided over by the Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Tonio Fenech.

The top student in the course, Damien Fiott, spoke about the course helping practitioners chart their way through the country's tax laws.

He suggested that more time is dedicated to subsidiary legislation, which is becoming increasingly important.

Among those attending the ceremony were students who were accepted for enrolment in the second course that began in the second week of October.
