Masquerade unveils drama season
Programme includes drama, comedy, musicals
As the new theatre season starts to gain momentum, Masquerade Theatre Company has announced it will stage a variety of internationally acclaimed plays including drama, comedy and musical theatre.
"This season's programme brings a variety of theatre performed in different venues. It ranges from the provocative play The Goat to the energetic musical Rocky Horror Show," said theatre director Anthony Bezzina.
Masquerade will kick off the 2006-2007 season with The Goat Or Who Is Sylvia? by Edward Albee. A new play, it tells of Martin, a successful architect who receives a top award and turns 50 in quick succession. Life simply couldn't be better, and the biggest contract of his life has just fallen into his lap. But suddenly he makes a shocking confession that changes everything.
The season continues with the musical The Rocky Horror Show which will be performed in March under the direction of Mr Bezzina and musical direction of Andy Reiss. This promises to be a dynamic production, bursting at the seams with timeless classics, including Sweet Transvestite and the pelvic-thrusting Time Warp.
In April, the best of West End and Broadway shows return to Malta with a show featuring David Fawcett, Andy Reiss, Natalie Hope and Katie Leeming, who have taken major roles in Les Misérables, both in London's West End and on tour.
