¤ Fr Frankie Cini is holding Mass for young people at the Jesus of Nazareth church, Xaghra, today at 10.30 a.m. The Guiding Light group will animate the Mass, which will be attended by members of the Organ Donors Group of Malta and Gozo.

Tomorrow at 7 p.m., Mgr Carmelo Hili, delegate of the Bishop for the Apostolic Commission for Lay People, is celebrating Mass for members of the Eucharistic communities and Catholic groups.

On Tuesday at 7 p.m., Fr Joseph Bajada is holding a Mass for the blind in Gozo, with the participation of the St Claire children's choir.

On Wednesday at 9 a.m., Mgr Eucharist Sultana leads Mass for the sick and the elderly, followed by a get-together in the parish centre. At 7 p.m., there will be activities for all the family and Mass led by Fr John Avellino. Couples will renew their marriage vows. The Voci Angeliche choir, together with the Grupp Spectrum, will animate the Mass. A reception will be held afterwards.

Between Thursday and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., the 40 hours' adoration (Kwaranturi) will take place and will include Mass.

¤ Chicken Little is showing at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 5.30 p.m.

¤ Poet and writer Canon Joe Mejlak launches Ribalta., a three-volume collection of works for theatre and radio, at a musico-literary evening at the Gozo Ministry hall, under the patronage of Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono and Bishop Mario Grech, today at 5.30 p.m.

The nephew of poetess Mary Mejlak, Canon Mejlak's dramatic works are specially remembered by people who used to frequent the Don Bosco Oratory, Teatru Astra, the Xewkija parish centre and other localities.

¤ Sta Lucija marks the feast of Our Lady today with the recitation of the rosary at 5.45 p.m. At 6, Canon Carmelo Curmi will lead a concelebrated Mass followed by an aux flambeaux procession with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima.

¤ A coffee morning is being held at the Bishop's Conservatory School, Victoria, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. Tickets are obtainable from the school.

¤ Gharb council is holding Maltese language courses for foreign residents, one for beginners and another continuing last year's course. Application forms are obtainable from Gharb council and should be submitted by Wednesday.

¤ Nadur's December 13 Decorations Group is holding a coffee morning with tombola at the City Pearl Hall, Victoria, on Wednesday at 8.30 a.m. Tickets at Lm1.25 are available from committee members and helpers or call 7906-9820 or 2156-0360.

¤ Dr Mario Tabone, chairman of Heritage Malta, is inaugurating an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Joseph Briffa (1901-1987) at the Gozo Area Exhibition Hall of Heritage Malta, St Martin's Quarter, at the Citadel in Victoria, on Saturday at 7 p.m. The exhibition closes on November 17.

¤ A ceremony to mark the 208th anniversary of the Gozitans' victory over the French, led by archpriest Saver Cassar, will be held on Independence Square, Victoria, on October 27 at 10.30 a.m. The ceremony will be presided over by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono. An exhibition will be inaugurated afterwards.

¤ The Friends of the Sick and the Elderly in Gozo are holding a car boot sale at Marsalforn car park on October 29 from 8 a.m. The fee is Lm4 per car.

¤ To commemorate the tragedy at sea of October 30, 1948, when 23 Gozitans lost their lives, a ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 29. The Cultural Division of the Gozo Ministry has prepared a programme for the occasion. At 10.15 a.m., a commemorative wreath will be placed at the Zewwieqa monument in Mgarr. At 10.30, Bishop Nikol Cauchi will celebrate Mass, with the participation of soprano Rosabelle Pavia, on one of the Gozo Channel ferry boats. At 10.50, the boat will leave Mgarr Harbour for a wreath-laying ceremony out at sea.
