Alberta Amato, 20, of Pietà was fined Lm50 after she admitted to breaching her bail conditions.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna, prosecuting, asked that she be re-arrested. He also asked the court to make her pay Lm2,000 worth of guarantees she had given when first granted bail in two criminal cases related to the alleged theft of a motorbike and the falsification of a number plate.

The woman admitted that she was near her residence at 10.30 p.m. when her curfew, stipulated by the bail conditions, was 10 p.m. Magistrate Lawrence Quintano accepted the argument by the defence that the breach of bail conditions is of small consequence and fined her Lm50.

Lawyers Roberto Montalto and Franco Debono were defence counsel.
