Two youths appeared in court separately yesterday and were accused of breaching bail conditions.

Matthew Micallef, 23, from Birkirkara and Kevin Fiorini, 26, from Marsascala, were charged before Magistrate Joe Cassar.

Mr Fiorini was charged with failing to abide by a court decree issued last March when he was granted bail on condition he signed at the police station on a daily basis.

The court ordered the accused to be re-arrested.

Mr Micallef was accused of failing to sign the bail book between October 2 and Wednesday.

Defence counsel Anglu Farrugia said his client was sick on the days in question and he exhibited medical certificates.

Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara, prosecuting, said no one replied when the police went to the house where the accused lived.

The case continues.
