The health services section of the Union Haddiema Maghqudin has suspended a directive to cleaners at St Luke's Hospital while talks with the authorities take place.
The union had taken issue with the transfer of cleaners from the wards they were originally assigned to, in order to perform cleaning duties elsewhere.
The union said that since the cleaners were given other work to do, the cleaning of the wards was not being done thoroughly.
On Wednesday the union directed cleaners to perform duties only at the wards they were originally assigned to.
Section secretary Joe Bonello said the union suspended the directive as it was having talks with the Health Division to solve the problem.
