A great part of the Maltese electorate is deeply unimpressed that, to date, the government has failed to deny the accusations made by BirdLife Malta against it. Meanwhile the same electorate applauds the honourable decision taken by ornithologist Joe Sultana who has resigned from the Ornis Committee in what is widely seen as an act of disassociation.

It is not only the European Commission watching Malta closely for a breach in the Birds Directive but many of the now sadly declining visitors to these islands who regularly voice their strong objections to shooting, in this newspaper.
