Birzebbuga SkolaSajf students aged between eight and 11 have drawn pictures conveying their feelings towards local biodiversity following a talk by the Biological Conservation Research Foundation, during which they were also shown the foundation's ECO Malta documentaries.
Curt Buhagiar won the first prize for managing to portray the full message of biodiversity and the best way of enjoying it. He was followed by Henna Tonna, who managed to give a feel of the variety of biodiversity and how it could be spoiled through careless behaviour. The third prize went to Nicole Park for managing to illustrate the diversity of colours, shapes and beauty one could enjoy through scuba diving if good care of the sea was taken.
The three works were rewarded prizes by Bicref.
Bicref said that in their messages the children stressed the need to keep the sea clean and rich in biodiversity.
Birzebbuga primary school head Paul Sammut said he will continue working on the theme of biodiversity conservation.
