The Association of Market Hawkers has complained about the situation at the Qormi market, blaming the local council for a number of problems.
The association claimed the local council has dragged its feet in solving the problems and its efforts did not reap the desired results.
The issue has to do with the spaces allocated for hawkers.
The association is insisting on being consulted to curtail inconvenience to hawkers.
When contacted, Qormi mayor Jesmond Aquilina said the council was still preparing its reply and was unable to comment yesterday.
The mayor said the association's statement included several inaccuracies, some of which he claimed to be libellous.
