Tickets for Bocelli concert

MaltaTicket.com is pleased to have been appointed as ticketing providers to Renaissance Productions for Andrea Bocelli in Concert, being held on December 16, 2006 at the Malta Convention Centre, Ta' Qali. We wish to extend our apologies to Terry Shaw (Hard Sell, Harder To Buy, October 7) for the difficulties he had in purchasing tickets.

It should be pointed out, not only for Mr Shaw, but for everyone, that the correct website address is www.maltaticket.com, and not the plural form (maltaticketS). It appears that the website address was misprinted inadvertently, and Mr Shaw most probably was misdirected because of this. The incorrect site is not owned by us (or anyone else in Malta), it is a squatter site.

At www.maltaticket.com, Mr Shaw would have been able to purchase his choice of tickets via his credit card, without ever leaving the comfort of his home. Thus far, many hundreds of people from all over the world have made use of this facility.

Unfortunately, Maltapost has a policy of not accepting credit cards in payment of tickets. This is a simple matter of business since their bank would charge them more in credit card fees than the commission they earn. Even Exotique does not accept credit cards for the same business reason.

Most agents do, however, with discretion accept cheques.

In the end, accepting any other payment method rather than cash is the business decision of the agent, and not something we or the organisers have any direct control over. The first Maltapost clerk Mr Shaw went to - in Gharb - discovered that she had a technical problem. These things unfortunately happen on rare occasions - even in this century. Instead of having him wait while she resolved this problem, the clerk suggested he go to Victoria. At Victoria, he received his tickets without delay other than his having to get cash.
