The Malta Amateur Athletic Association has just confirmed its Road Running and Cross Country calendar for season 2006/07.
Race will take place between October 22 and April 22 with the opening event being the race in Zebbug from the Road Running League.
There are some innovations in the new programme.
In the open 10km Road Running League, a runner's final position will be determined according to performance in three out of five races rather than four as in previous years.
There is also the inclusion of age category awards for those between 20 and 35. Cash awards will be based on performance rather than placing, the MAAA said in a statement.
In categories for young athletes, the MAAA decided to organise a league for the first time. It will include both Road Running and Cross Country.
To qualify for the final classification, juniors will have to take part in at least two road races and two in cross country.
