Three international scholars will be speaking at a half-day conference entitled Bodies and Burials in Ancient Malta which will form part of Festival Mediterranea 2006, on November 4.
David Trump, a leading UK archaeologist and scholar, will return for the fifth consecutive year as main speaker in the festival's annual conference as well as to lead field lectures at several sites of archaeological importance.
Dr Trump will again analyse the Maltese prehistoric period, this time focusing on rituals and practices connected to death.
Simon Stoddart and Caroline Malone, also from the UK and who have greatly contributed to the awareness of Maltese prehistory locally and internationally, will join Dr Trump with the presentation of two papers.
A number of events will be held to support the conference.
Field trips include one at Ta' Cenc in Gozo on November 2, followed by a one-hour talk entitled Pots, Pans and Prehistory by Dr Trump, as well as a trip to the Mgarr and Skorba sites on November 3.
