Second place enough for Delia to clinch championship in Italy

Young model car racer, Nicholas Delia, recently made sure of the honours in an Italian championship, which took place in different regions this year, by finishing runner-up in the series's last race in Monopoli, Bari.
The 1/8 R/C Class championship involved 65 competitors who took part in the senior class.
In the previous three races, Delia was runner-up in Bologna and fourth in Sciaccia. His worst showing was in Brescia where an engine failure saw him slipping to 21st.
Delia, 15, accumulated an overall score of 1,050 points. Lorenzo Pulito was second, 900, and Gior-dano Agostinelli third, 760.
In Monopoli, Pulito finished fifth earning 280 points to Delia's 370.
The race was won by Giuseppe de Fuoco. He got 400 points after completing 144 laps in 45 minutes and 12 seconds. Delia had 137 laps in 45 minutes and 18 seconds.
As part of his build-up to the race in Monopoli, Delia also took part in the GP Efra in Fiorano. Here, the entry list included 62 drivers from Greece, Holland, France, Spain, Germany and Italy.
The Maltese lad made it to the semi-finals stage but ultimately had to settle for 17th place in the rankings.
Delia drives a Mugen MRX-4R which is equipped with an IDM engine and a Lola body. He is sponsored by Simon Models, of Sta Lucija, and IDM Engines.
