Benedict XVI invited all families to recite the rosary for the intentions of the Pope, the mission of the Church and peace. The Pope was speaking in the beginning of October, the month which the Church has for ages dedicated to the rosary.

The Pope described the rosary as "simple and profound." The rosary, a "contemplative and Christo-centric prayer, inseparable from the meditation of sacred Scripture", is "the prayer of the Christian who advances in the pilgrimage of faith, in the following of Jesus, preceded by Mary", Pope Benedict continued.

The Pope invited the faithful "to pray the rosary as a family during this month", and in larger spiritual families, "in communities and parishes", "for the intentions of the Pope, for the mission of the Church, and for peace in the world".

In our country we are lucky to have the rosary broadcast every day on several radio stations. Unfortunately this year PBS decided to relegate the rosary to a late night spot. Radju Malta used to broadcast the Rosary at around 7 p.m., the ideal time to help families recite the rosary. PBS was giving good service to our families. But it seems that the people who count at PBS today have relegated public service to the bottom of their priorities.

We hope that people will now tune in to the stations that still respect their beliefs and are ready to be of service.
