Last April, on the 24th to be exact, the Gozo Curia set up a commission to investigate whether or not there was new information about allegations of child abuse - physical or psychological - made in 1999. These abuses were investigated by a commission set up by Bishop Nikol Cauchi. According to that commission these allegations were unfounded. Bishop Mario Grech set up the new commission after these accusations were going to be given a new lease of life during the TVM programme Bondi+.

A Christian Outlook had commented positively about this decision and praised Bishop Grech for the initiative. We also commented positively about one particular aspect of the bishop's decision.

We wrote: "Another plus for Bishop Grech was the reasonably short period of time he set for the conclusion of the inquiry. One now hopes that the enquiry board will not let the Bishop down but they will deliver their conclusions in the appointed time. His way of moving, and moving in a very fast way, showed that he is after substance and not just, or mainly, PR."

The April 24 press release of the Gozo Bishop's Curia said that the commission was expected to report to Bishop Grech within two months. Those two months expired on June 24. If the commission presented the report and its conclusions were made public then we apologise for not noticing the matter. If the commission had not presented its report or if it had but the conclusions were never published then we ask why.
