Over 180 staff members from the Foundation for Social Welfare Services, individuals from day centres for people with a disability and professionals from NGOs were awarded a certificate for successfully completing their training in labour market integration of socially excluded persons.
The training formed part of the European Social Fund Project ESF20.
Representatives of key entities within the employment sector came together yesterday for a conference on labour market integration of socially excluded persons organised by Agenzija Appogg.
Certified social workers were trained over the past four months in different subjects, including the provision of support to individuals preparing for work interviews, providing them with assistance, and helping clients and employers access Employment and Training Corporation schemes that facilitate employment.
Employment and vocational training is a leading priority in the National Development Plan, and the foundation is identifying groups that are at risk of social exclusion and targets them for intervention.
Such groups include youngsters living in or leaving institutional or foster care, those who suffered from traumatic and abusive childhoods, single mothers and victims of domestic violence, persons with a disability and or mental health problems, persons who have been in correctional facilities and therapeutic centres, and homeless people.
