Following the success of previous years, Maltanet celebrated Customer Service Week last week.

The aim of this annual event is to enhance their Customer Service and the role their staff play in meeting customers' expectations.

Gordon Dimech, manager Commercial Services, invited me to share in their celebrations. Indeed they have evidently grasped the concept that the only way they can positively impact upon their customer service is by enhancing the motivation and well being of their staff. This year they focused on the contribution of each employee within their organisation towards customer care.

Jason Vella, manager, Customer Care at Maltanet, explained that although Maltanet have been organising Customer Service Week for a number of years, this was the first time that the event was organised since the merger between DataStream and Maltanet late last year. The event was therefore an ideal opportunity to further enhance team-building.

A number of internal activities were organised to celebrate the event. These included video presentations about customer service, team-building games and surveys. All customers visiting Maltanet were greeted with refreshments.

I was also pleased to learn that Maltanet has introduced a 24-hour customer support service, providing users with free telephone support at any hour of the day, seven days a week.

A very important activity organised for the week was a survey to identify the "Most Customer-Oriented Employee" within Maltanet. All staff members at Maltanet were asked to nominate one of their colleagues for this award, and state reasons for their choice.

Mark Cristina, a member of the sales team, won the award this year thanks to his hard work and determination to ensure that Maltanet's customers get the best possible service.

Well, all I can say is "Keep it up, Maltanet!"
