The stock of motor vehicles rose by 1,445 between June 2005 and last June to reach 275,800, according to the National Statistics Office. Of the total, 75.9 per cent were private.
New licences issued during the second quarter of this year amounted to 3,558, the NSO said.
Private vehicles accounted for 2,440 new licences, or 68.6 per cent of the total.
Compared to the first quarter, the total number of newly licensed motor vehicles registered a significant increase of 679 or 40.9 per cent.
