The excellent letter by the communications coordinator of the LAND (Living Ability Not Disability) group (September 20), regarding Stephen Attard's crossing from St Paul's Island to tal-Ghassellin quay, St Paul's Bay, infused in most readers an awareness as well as the promotion of the objectives and aims of the non-profit organisation LAND.

Definitely, Mr Attard's successful attempt in making the crossing marked the swimmer's determination in making his dream come true.

Considering Mr Attard's physical impairment, the time of two hours and 18 minutes taken for the swim can be favourably judged taking into consideration the inclement weather and the rather rough sea in the afternoon in question, with the strong gusts of EW winds and waves over one metre high!

I am sure that with more active support from the local sports clubs in the St Paul's Bay area and under a capable swimming coach, Mr Attard can without strain lower his timing in next year's attempt.
