The Malta Dockers' Union has been granted sole recognition of port workers and tally clerks, the union said yesterday.

The union was registered last month with port workers who resigned from the General Workers' Union.

Following an exercise by the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations, which confirmed that the union represented the majority of workers, the Malta Maritime Authority was informed about this development and the MDU will shortly start negotiations on port reform with the government's negotiating team.
