The Euro-Mediterranean Centre on Insular Coastal Dynamics (IcoD) will be organising the second international conference on "The Management of Coastal Recreational Resources: Beaches, Yachting and Coastal Eco-tourism" between October 25 and 27 at Hotel Ta' Cenc in Gozo.

As with the first one held in Malta in 2004, the conference aims to focus on aspects of coastal management related to the recreational amenities represented by beaches, yacht marinas and ecotourism.

The conference aims to bring together researchers as well as practitioners and policy makers to highlight and discuss issues of concern while also showcasing appropriate solutions through the exchange of experiences, best-practice scenarios and innovative management concepts.

Thus the conference is providing an opportunity to consider issues of concern to both tourism and the environmental sector, and to address sustainable management practice in these fields by exploring the dependency of tourism on well-managed environment and conversely, the negative impact of insensitive tourism on environmental quality.
