Dr Mario Tabone-Vassallo's letter (The Sunday Times, September 24) clearly shows that he is still naive when it comes to handling of luggage and low-cost airlines. The policy adopted by Britishjet.com on damaged luggage is standard in all low-cost airlines.

Dr Tabone-Vassallo wanted to mislead your readers when he said that he paid £173.04 for his ticket, when, in reality, he booked a one-way from Malta to Stansted on June 2 he paid Lm49, equivalent to £82. On July 17 he booked another one-way from Stansted to Malta amounting to Lm53, equivalent to £89, both flights including taxes, which together amount to £171, not £173.04 and also that he conveniently omitted the written reply sent to him by Britishjet.com on August 24, stating that the detailed reason why the company does not assume responsibility, particularly because the handling of luggage is not done by Britishjet.com.

Britishjet.com is happy that Dr Tabone Vassallo, as sceptical as he is about our company, did not find any fault with the flight and we hope that he will get as good a price as with Britishjet.com on his flights to Libya and other destinations.

I leave it to your readers to decide whether they prefer that the eventual luggage claim and luggage cost be included in the ticket price or the policy of low-cost airlines such as Britishjet.com.
