I received a rather different letter worth sharing:
I assiduously read your page in The Sunday Times. I would like to inquire if you can publish or have published, a list of rogue traders who have featured in your articles. The full trader's name and address (to avoid any case of mistaken identity) would be most welcome. I think it would help consumers contemplating buying any product to avoid rogue traders. As far as I am concerned, I would be willing to pay for such a list. (Alexander Cortis)
I thank Mr Cortis for his original letter and his comments regarding our column. Regarding his idea of publishing a list of rogue traders, I have sought legal advice. Unfortunately, from a legal point of view it is not advisable.
However, it is encouraging to receive such letters from readers. After all this is your column and your opinion is important. In this spirit I invite you to write to me if you have any other ideas as to how we can further maximise on our column.
